Fulfillment is the full cycle of order processing: from the moment a customer clicks “Buy” to the moment the package is in their hands.
A typical fulfillment service includes:
- receiving goods at the warehouse;
- storage with regard to product specifics;
- picking and packing of orders;
- handing parcels over to the courier service;
- delivery tracking;
- handling returns and complaints;
- reporting for the store.
In essence, fulfillment is the “hidden engine” of e-commerce. Customers don’t see it, but it shapes their impression of the store: how fast the order arrived, in what condition, and how easy it was to return the product.
